undertail coverts uniformly green; red frontal band. Ssp barnardi Mallee Ringneck: broad red
frontal band; irregular orange breastband. Ssp macgillivrayi Cloncurry Ringneck: pastel version
of Mallee but lacks red frontal band; yellow, not orange, on abdomen.
