relatively longer tail, more white on face, yellow bill). Black cap
extends down over eyes & w. the
black facial skin, forms a zig-zag pattern.
Breeding: iris bright blue-green, nape finely streaked
white. Non-breeding:
less glossy blacks. Juvenile: dark browns above, grey iris, upper breast &
ear coverts smudged brown. At high-energy coastal sites. It uses pursuit-diving to
capture fish.
