Notes: Ssp longipennis is bigger & bulkier than Arctic Tern which is longer tailed, shorter billed w.
darker body; bigger than the gleaming white Roseate Tern; & smaller than the White-fronted Tern.
It always has a black bill & brownish-red legs. First-year birds have dark outer primaries &
shoulder patch, black restricted to back of neck to eye. Breeds in east Asia, summer visitor here.
