Notes: Small sturdy plover w. pink legs, red orbital ring, black hood
that extends down onto the
chin & bold white nape. Juvenile has greyish cap,
reduced w. wear to mainly white.
WA ssp tregallasi has more extensive black
mantle than E Aus cucullatus.
Native of ocean beaches (& salt lakes in WA).
Uncommon due to human disturbance of beaches.
