Notes: Slim; long tail. Male: broad yellow frontal band on emerald green head; variable dark red
patch on back of head; yellow shoulder-bar contrasts w. dark blue secondary coverts; brown iris.
Female: duller; olive-brown head & chest; red shoulder-bar. Juvenile duller than adult of same
sex, orange bill at first. Quiet. Widespread in semi-arid woodland & shrubland types. Feeds mostly
on the ground.
