Notes: Large honeyeater w. bare black-skinned
head & neck; triangular casque at base of upper mandible;
pronounced gorget; red iris. Immature: upperpart feathers fringed
white, giving scalloped appearance. Ssp monachus is greyer,
less brown, above & slightly darker below than nominate
corniculatus, & has significantly longer wings & tail.
Voice: loud, harsh, cackling. In a wide range of habitats including
(especially) open forests, gardens & parks, where it is common.
