Notes: Slender, medium size. Male is bright green with blue tinge on forehead, red rump & yellow
belly. Female dull brownish green scalloped w. grey above, yellowish tinge below; rump & upper-
tail coverts bright green. Juvenile dull version of adult; orange-brown bill at first. Ssp caeruleus
paler & bluer than nominate haematonotus. Feeds on the ground.
