Throat & chin are a pale buff-orange that
blends into creamy-yellow of
the breast. Heavily streaked cheek patch. Thin pointed black bill.
Ssp flava
(Qld Tablelands) similar but longer-tailed, tinged yellow above, bright yellow below.
Ssp modesta is greyer above than others, ear-covert streaks whitish,
throat darker orange-buff,
creamy yellow below. In open forests & woodlands.
Forages for insects mainly in trees & shrubs.
